The Keeper and the Builder
One of you goes quiet. One of you gets busy.
How a Keeper and a Builder carry hard things together: where you’re good, where it rubs, and what to say.
Find out which you areAbout a minute of quick taps. Then send it to them.
Where you’re good together
The Builder handles the practical things the Keeper won’t ask for help with, and the Keeper’s calm keeps the Builder from spinning out.
Where it rubs
The Builder’s plan can feel like being managed. The Keeper’s quiet can feel like being shut out of the problem.
What helps
The Builder asks before fixing. The Keeper answers with one sentence of what’s actually there, not ‘I’m fine’.
A Keeper might say
“I don’t need a plan yet. I just need you to know it’s hard.”
A Builder might say
“Do you want help, or do you want me to just listen?”
Loving each other
If you love a Keeper
- "I’m fine" is often a reflex, not an answer. Ask once more, gently, and leave a pause.
- Don’t push for the whole story. Make it easy to say a little, and stay with it when they do.
If you love a Builder
- If you just want them to listen, say so in words. They’ll switch gladly once they know.
- Tell them plainly when they’re running themselves into the ground. They won’t notice on their own.
