The Builder and the Anchor
One of you can’t stop starting. One of you can’t start.
How a Builder and an Anchor carry hard things together: where you’re good, where it rubs, and what to say.
Find out which you areAbout a minute of quick taps. Then send it to them.
Where you’re good together
The Builder’s momentum can help the Anchor start, and the Anchor’s calm reminds the Builder that not everything is urgent.
Where it rubs
The Builder’s momentum reads as judgment. The Anchor’s stillness reads as not trying.
What helps
The Builder shrinks the ask until it’s five minutes and does it alongside, without checking on progress.
A Builder might say
“Want to do just ten minutes of it with me? No more than that.”
An Anchor might say
“I’m moving slower today. It’s not a verdict on your plan.”
Loving each other
If you love a Builder
- If you just want them to listen, say so in words. They’ll switch gladly once they know.
- Tell them plainly when they’re running themselves into the ground. They won’t notice on their own.
If you love an Anchor
- Invite them to small things, and keep inviting even when they say no.
- Don’t ask them to explain the quiet. Make no big deal of it when they show up.
