The Noticer and the Anchor
One mind won’t stop. The other has gone quiet to cope.
How a Noticer and an Anchor carry hard things together: where you’re good, where it rubs, and what to say.
Find out which you areAbout a minute of quick taps. Then send it to them.
Where you’re good together
The Anchor’s calm quiets the Noticer’s mind, and the Noticer’s attention makes the Anchor feel seen without having to say much.
Where it rubs
The Noticer fills the Anchor’s silence with theories. The Anchor hears the theories as more to carry and goes quieter.
What helps
Do a small thing side by side, no talking required. The Noticer gets company for the loop. The Anchor gets a start.
A Noticer might say
“You don’t have to explain the quiet. Want to just sit together for a bit?”
An Anchor might say
“I’m here, I’m just flat today. Nothing’s wrong between us.”
Loving each other
If you love a Noticer
- Reassurance helps for a minute. One plain, true sentence helps longer: say it once, then change the subject.
- If they go quiet, they’re probably thinking something through, not upset with you. Ask what’s on their mind, and let them answer at their pace.
If you love an Anchor
- Invite them to small things, and keep inviting even when they say no.
- Don’t ask them to explain the quiet. Make no big deal of it when they show up.
