Texting with Penny.
pennytalk offers an optional SMS program: talk with Penny, our AI companion, over two-way text message and receive occasional check-ins. This page documents how the program and its opt-in work.
The program
What you receive.
Messages are conversational: you text Penny reflections or questions and she replies with supportive messages. If you opt in, Penny also sends a daily check-in text at the hour you choose. Message frequency varies and is driven primarily by your own texting. Message and data rates may apply. The daily check-in and any promotional texts are never a condition of using pennytalk — and if you stop all texts, your account and history remain fully available on this website.
Opt-in
How you opt in.
The primary opt-in happens during signup on this website:
- 1. Answer four short questions at pennytalk.ai/signup, then enter your US mobile number.
- 2. Check the consent box — it is unchecked by default and required to continue. The full consent text is reproduced verbatim below.
- 3. Confirm the 6-digit code Penny texts you. No code, no account — the number is verified before any other message is sent.
- 4. Reply STOP to any message to stop all texts, or remove your number under Settings → Text with Penny (the same place an account without a number can opt in later, with its own unchecked-by-default consent box).
Signup consent (verbatim)
I’m 18 or older, I agree to the Terms and Privacy Policy, and I agree to receive texts from pennytalk at this number — replies and a daily check-in I can change or turn off anytime. Message frequency varies; message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel, HELP for help. Penny is not a clinician or emergency service.

Opt-out & help
Stopping texts.
Reply STOP to any message to opt out immediately (reply START to rejoin). Reply HELP for help, or email hello@pennytalk.ai. You can also remove your number under Settings → Text messaging. We never sell your mobile number, and we do not share your mobile number or SMS consent with third parties or affiliates for their marketing.
